The urban design of the Smíchov South complex is inspired by the dynamics of transportation structures in this area. It is composed of five parallel buildings and four streets. The streets are connected by public passageways. They are closed off visually by sculptures by the famous American architect John Hejduk. The roofs are designed as linear gardens with stunning views of the city skyline. The shape of the roof landscape was generated by an algorithm based on the composition Vltava by composer Bedřich Smetana. This roof geometry is thus symbolically tied to the city and the nearby Vltava River. The facades are articulated by horizontal bands with greenery. The complex is connected to the surrounding city by streets, a hybrid bridge with a café, and a funicular.
